Hi, I’m April, designer and maker behind Aprili Designs.
My work is where metal meets meaning. I make amulets and talismans to support your energy, deepen your spiritual connection and help you feel your most aligned, empowered self.
Each piece is born from a lifetime of creativity, dance and spiritual practice, and is fuelled by a love of ancient wisdom, sacred geometry, the Divine Feminine and the metaphysical world. Whether it’s a serpent, a crescent moon, an eye amulet or a gemstone, every element is intentionally chosen for its energetic resonance and symbolic power.
These pieces are wearable prayers, tiny altars you carry with you. They are reminders that you are sacred, magical and deeply connected.
How it began
Aprili Designs began with jewellery for dancers, pieces meant to move from stage to street. I wanted women to carry the feeling of performance off the stage and into everyday life: the boldness, the sensuality, the radiance of being fully in their creative power.
My desire was to bottle up that feeling of being fully expressed and fully alive, and turn it into something she could wear. That’s where my early tagline was born: “Exotic in the Everyday.”
It was all about weaving magic into the mundane, making the mystical wearable, and helping women bring their full, adorned, aligned selves into daily life.
Over time, this passion evolved into crafting amulets that support the body, mind and spirit. This is jewellery that holds space for both beauty and function, whether worn in ritual, to work, or with a cocktail dress. I see each piece as a spiritual tool: wearable art with energetic purpose.
What I make reflects what I believe. We are all connected to something greater, and we can wear our power, protect our energy, and walk through life with beauty and intention, aligned with our Divine Self.
My journey
I was first enchanted by adornment in early childhood, living next door to an Indian family whose saris and jewellery captivated me long before I could speak. I made my first necklace at age five and kept crafting as a teenager, even making my own jewellery for my Year 12 Formal. After school, I studied Fine Art at TAFE and university, majoring in sculpture and bronze casting, and was always sneaking little jewellery experiments into my coursework.
Running alongside my creative arts practice was an equally important dance practice: an exploration of movement, expression, and the power of performance to embody sacred energy.
As a tribal belly dancer, I fell in love with the folkloric symbolism behind costuming and jewellery, and how pieces could signify protection, marital status, or connection to a deity. My travels and studies in dance led me to India, where I trained with traditional goldsmith Gurudat Soni in Rajasthan. There, under my Guru’s guidance, I learned sacred, time-honoured techniques. Those skills now breathe life into the intricate, symbolic details woven through each piece I make. It was in India, working with fire and metal, that everything clicked.
While soldering, I had a profound spiritual experience. I slipped into what felt like an out-of-body state, and I didn’t feel separate from the process. It was as if I were both the metal flowing and the observer, watching myself melt the solder and shape the silver. That moment lit up something inside me. I felt aligned and fully in my purpose, and I knew this was exactly what I was here to do.
Driven by curiosity and a yearning to understand the mystical forces behind life and energy, I immersed myself in the study of metaphysics. This gave me a deeper understanding of how gemstones work with our energy, how intention shapes our lives, and how symbols and jewellery can support healing and transformation.
Today, every piece I make is infused with this knowing. I blend ancient techniques with modern magic to create jewellery that helps you feel more like you.
